nice outside and ugly inside - my life

Maybe you have heard that some people are leaving church and God. Often that happens because of some people who they met in church, who instead of attracting to God they push them away. I used to be such a person.

In the Gospel of Mathew we read words of Lord Jesus, which he told to religious but hypocrite Pharisees: “Woe to you, teachers of the law and Pharisees, you hypocrites! You are like whitewashed tombs, which look beautiful on the outside but on the inside are full of dead men's bones and everything unclean.” (Mt 23:27)

It is easy for us today to imagine that picture: beautiful sunny day, nice cemetery and fresh flowers lying on the grave.  But when you look inside you will find bones, fetor of spoilt body.  My life looked exactly like that.  From outside it looked very nice: I have never smoked, never drunk or cursed and everybody said: O Peter is so nice!  But the cover from the grave opened from time to time and then they said: O Peter, you and something like that! Everybody was surprised and I was sad because I knew that there is something I have problem with and I do not know how to deal with that and that was sin.

That time in my life God was very important to me but the same time very distant – I experienced Him as a strong but impersonalized power.

I lived like that till I went to college.  There in a dormitory I met students who told about Jesus in a different way – they seemed to know Him personally.  We talked about what Jesus did for us on the cross, how he died for each of us and how we can handle the problem of sin in a everyday life.  I understood that I stay in front of a decision whether shall I give my life to Jesus and receive Him as my Lord and Savior.  Then I started to read the Bible.  After few weeks I decided to invite Jesus into my heart in a short prayer.

After a few months I could see changes in my life.  Lord Jesus started to clean that grave which was my heart and started to change me.  This process of change last till now.  The other important change that took place is that now Jesus is my best friend, I cannot see Him, nor hear Him but I do experience His presence and I know that He will never let me down.  And that kind of relation to Christ I would like all of you to have!

From that time God is using me to draw to Him and to church a lot of people, now my life has meaning and goal.

thank you.
