My debt is paid

I grew up in a typical Christian family going to church every week just because I thought it was the right thing to do. I struggled trying to make sure I followed the commandments perfectly like a "good Christian". However, just like the elder brother in the story of the prodigal son I was so focused on the works that I had done (or didn't do) that I was missing God's number one commandment. It wasn't until collegethat I decided to let go of trying to be the perfect follower and began to ask God's forgiveness for the areas in which I fell short. "All fall short of the glory of God" and once I realized that is when I became truly free from the chains that I had been unable to break. I still face some of the same struggles even today but nothing is more freeing than knowing that because of His grace my debt is paid.
