Jesus gave a meaning to my life
My name is Marián and since my childhod I went to church on Sundays with my mother and brother.
But when I was at the elementary school I stopped praying, I stopped thinking about God, because I thought that it has no sense, because He can’t hear me. Classmates often called me out on Friday evening, but I knew, they wanted to go there just to get drunk and I knew that it isn’t good, I didn’t want it so I said no. I didn’t have many friends, but I am the introvert, so I was not bothered. And so I spent evenings at home alone, in front of the TV or the computer. I had been falling in many sins, problems with pornography occured.
When I was at secondary school, the preparation for confirmation began in our parish. All my peers went there, so did I. One of my friends invited me to the Alpha course – the course about basics of Christianity, which is created in very appealing form. I gave it a chance and I participated. Although they said nothing new there, nothing I hadn’t heard or knew before, it was somehow different. They were talking about God’s love to me, despite all my sins and failures He didn’t stop loving me, but He sent his own Son, who died for me on the cross. It doesn’t end there, Jesus rose from dead and He is alive and thanks to this we can come to God. As John writes in the gospel: “The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy; Jesus have come that we may have life, and have it to the full”. These words started to give me sense and Jesus gave a meaning to my life.
I decided to walk with Him and few years passed since then. God has been changing my life step by step and he is teaching me new things. Now I know, why it is important to pray. He gave me perfect friends. We can have fun without alcohol and we can talk about everything and whenever. Temptations didn’t stop and I repeatedly fail, but I know I can ask God for forgiveness and help. When I feel alone, I remind myself that Jesus is always with me and He never leaves me. Thanks to Him I can testify what he is doing in my life.
Give Him a chance, because He can do even more in your life, if you allow Him.
